Coming up this weekend is the 2008 Race Of Champions in London.

Motocross veteran Travis Pastrana was going to team with Carl Edwards but Pastrana was injured this week in California. was injured this week in California. Pastrana is rumored to have broken a hip and an ankle, though we’re not sure how the injuries were sustained.

Carl is going to be finishing a very busy with the RoC. He has tire testing to start with at Las Vegas then he has a sponsorship obligation. Following that he will be jumping on a plane and heading to England.

“The Race of Champions is going to be really fun,” Edwards said. “I’ve never been to Europe. I don’t know anything about it … I met one of Travis’s friends the other day and I said, ‘Look, you’re got to tell him to call me. We’ve got to get a strategy here.’ I don’t know what to expect. The best drivers in the world are going to be over there.”
“I’m going to go straight from the test in Las Vegas to an Aflac [sponsorship] event in Atlanta, fly from Atlanta overnight, and get out of the airplane and go straight to the stadium for practice, and then I’ll get to rest a little bit on Saturday night … I just hope that whatever happens, I do well enough so that I get invited again so that I can keep doing it and get better and better,” he said prior to embarking on his week’s activities. “From what I can tell, the guys who do it over and over get a little better. I’m sure they’re not going to tell me their secrets, so I’m going to have to learn them.”

Tanner Foust is the 2008 and 2007 US Formula Drift champion and also a championship winning rally driver who took the gold medal in the 2007 X Games Rally and silver behind Pastrana in this year’s X Games.

“The investigation will reveal I had nothing to with Travis’ injuries and of course I wish him a speedy recovery. More seriously though, I’m honored to have this opportunity to represent the USA on the world stage racing against guys who are heroes to me.”

Eighteen stars from the worlds of Formula 1, Rally, NASCAR, Champ Car, Le Mans, Touring Cars, Dakar Rally-Raids, X-Games, etc.

Last year Jimmie Johnson and Travis Pastrana went representing the USA.

The Race of Champions is a race where several drivers form different racing backgrounds come to compete in identical cars. They race in exactly the same cars and on a parallel track. The premise is simple: using identical equipment and track, drivers can prove themselves based on their talent alone.
